Pet of the month - Tilly Morgan Hall

Friday, October 03, 2014

Congratulations to Tilly Morgan/Hall, who is our Pet of the Month for October! Tilly is a beautiful  4-year-old, Collie cross Spaniel who was nominated by the Physiotherapy Team, Kelly Dewsnip and Sarah Jones.

Poor Tilly had been suffering with back pain and was limping on her back right leg from time to time. After a CT scan and a chat with an orthopaedic surgeon, it was discovered that she had a protruding disc in her lower spine. Surgery wasn’t really an option at that point so Tilly was referred to Kelly for physiotherapy.

Chartered Veterinary Physiotherapist, Kelly said, “When Tilly first came along for physio, she was very stiff and limped after resting; not to mention a little overweight.  We decided to treat her with a combination of massage, stretches, joint mobilisations and a tailored exercise regime, whilst Sarah saw her on a regular basis to help monitor her weight”.

Despite being a little nervous to begin with, Tilly soon realised that physiotherapy involved a lot of attention and now thoroughly enjoys her sessions. Tilly’s owners have played a key part in her treatment by continuing her physiotherapy exercises at home and managing her diet – which has really paid off.

“Tilly has lost over 3 kilograms which has made a huge difference to her back pain,” said Sarah. “Her family have been so dedicated to improving Tilly’s health and we’re all really pleased with her progress; she can enjoy her lovely long walks again. Plus, I’m pretty sure Tilly is still enjoying her physiotherapy sessions too, seeing as she drags her owners across the waiting room as soon as we call her name!”

Well done Tilly and family, keep up the good work!
