Kennel Cough
Kennel cough (Infectious Bronchitis) is a highly infectious cough that can be picked up wherever dogs meet. The symptoms are typically a harsh, dry, honking cough which may last for several weeks, often requiring antibiotics to clear it up.
Kennel cough can be picked up anywhere your dog goes - on walks, at dog shows, training classes or boarding kennels (in fact most boarding kennels will not accept your dog unless they have been vaccinated against Kennel Cough).
It is caused by a mixture of viruses and a bacterium called Bordetella Bronchiseptica. Although annual vaccination offers some protection, only intranasal vaccines offer full protection against Bordetella.
