Pet Passports
Since March 2000, your pet dog or cat can travel to most European countries and some long haul designations, and return to the UK without having to spend six months in quarantine.
That is providing they fulfil the requirements of the Pet Travel Scheme.
In order to qualify for the scheme, your pet must be permanently identified with a microchip and be vaccinated against rabies (and subsequently blood tested to ensure that the vaccine has given them a satisfactory level of protection against rabies).
However, you need to allow at least 7 months from the date of your pet's initial rabies vaccination before he or she can re-enter the UK under the scheme - so you need to plan way ahead!
Please contact your branch surgery for further information.
