Hospital Tour
Our Wells Road Hospital and Surgery was extended and refurbished in 2003 to provide full hospital and surgical facilities, a spacious and comfortable waiting room and ample parking, even at the busiest times.
Last year we achieved the highest possible accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons after rigorous inspection of our hospital standards, facilities and services.

Operating Theatres
Our highly qualified veterinary surgeons have access to modern, fully equipped and ventilated operating theatres, and are supported by experienced surgical and nursing teams.
Our two theatres are impressively equipped with:
- Anaesthetic machines and monitors
- Variable height operating tables
- Powerful operating lights
- Electrosurgery to help stop the bleeding
- Bear huggers which blow hot air around the pet to keep them warm
- An incubator for small mammals and cats
- Infusion pumps (with warming pumps to warm fluids as they go in)
- Oxygen tent facilities
- Extensive orthopaedic equipment for fracture and ligament repairs
- Spinal equipment
- Ventilator to aid breathing
This allows us to work to the highest standards and provide first-class clinical care for all your animals.
We do everything we can to reduce operating and recovery times for pets. In particular, we use the most up to date anaesthesia for minimal risk to the patient and a gentler recovery.
We also use, where possible, key hole surgery as a replacement for some otherwise major surgical procedures, this greatly reduces trauma and recovery times for the patient.
Our spinal equipment allows for treatment of the more common surgical spinal conditions, such as intervertebral disc disease.
Soft tissue surgeries
Juliet Pope, our Clinical Director and certificate holder in Small Animal Surgery, has a particular interest in oncology (cancer) and can advice you on the best way to treat your pet for any tumour they might develop.
She can also follow up with advice on chemotherapeutic drugs that might be useful after surgery.
Juliet is very experienced, being one of less than 200 vets holding the CertSAS (certificate in Small Animal Surgery).
