Libby Buck wins Best Improved

Working Newfoundland

Libby Buck

Congratulations to gorgeous 21 month old Newfoundland Libby Buck, pictured here with her proud owner Garry, who recently won the Beginners Water Trials and Best Improved Working Newfoundland at Ragley Hall in Wales.

Libby was judged on her ability to successfully recognise a person in distress in the water, swim out, and bring them safely back to shore. Libby took two trials, one to bring a swimmer in distress back to the shore from 20 metres, and the other to bring a boat back to the shore from 20 metres.

Libby started the beginner's life saving course 12 months ago with her owners, Garry and Susan Buck, who regard the training as a hobby for them all. Garry explains "Libby absolutely loves the water and the training days. It's something that we all enjoy and are very commited to. We start the Advanced course in April which means that Libby will learn to swim out and rescue people at longer distances".

The Group meets every Sunday, between April and October. If you would like to find out more about working Newfoundlands, take a look at the Welsh Newfoundland Activity Group Website.

Well done Libby
