Our visiting specialists and consultants have undergone extensive post graduate training in their particular disciplines and are highly experienced in their fields.
They run weekly referral clinics at Highcroft where they see cases referred by veterinary surgeons from all over the south west, including our own.

Zoo and Exotic Species Specialist referral service
Sharon Redrobe BSc(Hons) BVetMed DZooMed MRCVS
We run this specialist referral service in partnership with Bristol Zoo Gardens, taking referrals from all over the country for unusual pets.
The service is run from Highcroft Veterinary Hospital and headed by Sharon Redrobe, Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine.
Sharon is one of the most highly qualified veterinary surgeons in exotic species in Europe. She holds the RCVS Diploma in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine and the RCVS Certificate in Laboratory Animal Science.
Sharon and her team will see referrals for the whole range of species:
- Small mammals (rabbit, guinea pig, chinchilla, ferret, sugar glider, degu, rat, hamster ...)
- Birds (including parrots, budgerigars, cockatiels, birds of prey, waterfowl ...)
- Reptiles (tortoise, lizard, snake, caiman, crocodile ...)
- Invertebrates (spider or other insect)
- Amphibians or fish
- Primates (marmoset, tamarind, lemur, squirrel monkey ...)
- Other mammals (coati, skunk, racoon, wallaby ...)
IF YOU ARE A VET wishing to referal an animal to Sharon, simply call us on 01275 838473 with your client's details and we will make all the necessary arrangements for the referral visit.
History, case notes and other relevant information can be sent to us by fax or email. Radiographs can be sent with the client on the day.
You will receive a full report which can be sent as an email, a fax and/or by post.
If you are available, a member of our exotic referral team will call you on the day to discuss the case.
