Our visiting specialists and consultants have undergone extensive post graduate training in their particular disciplines and are highly experienced in their fields.
They run weekly referral clinics at Highcroft where they see cases referred by veterinary surgeons from all over the south west, including our own.

Rabbit and exotic species
Brigitte Reusch BVetMed (Hons) CertZooMed MRCVS is the leading Consultant in Rabbit and Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery in the South West, having studied veterinary exotic, zoo and wildlife medicine to a high level (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate).
She was appointed the first RWF Rabbit and Zoo animal resident in the UK in 2004, based at Bristol Zoo and University of Bristol. She helped set-up and run the Rabbit Clinic at Bristol University.
Now offering a high level of care for all exotic pets, Brigitte has runs the Hare & Tortoise Exotic Referral Service at our main Hospital on the Wells Rd.
At these clinics, Brigitte uses diagnostic tools to assess the patients and discusses any treatment or surgery required with the owners.
She uses a state-of-the-art specialised exotic animal equipment and facilities for looking after all the special needs of these very important pets.
The Hare & Tortoise Veterinary Referral Clinic provides state-of-the-art level veterinary care for:
- Rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, degus, chipmunks, sugar gliders, gerbils, rats, mice, hamsters and many more small mammals
- Parrots, budgerigars, cockatiels, Birds of Prey, waterfowl and many other species of birds
- Tortoises, lizards and snakes
- Frogs, axolotls, salamanders
- Koi carp, Marine and Tropical fish species
- Spiders and other invertebrates.

Please note that all externally referred owners are required to sign a declaration which explains that Highcroft Veterinary Group cannot provide first opinion services, or sell them vet-only products such as flea and worm treatments, within 12 months of their visit to the referral service.
