Nic qualified from Bristol University in June 2012 and joined Highcroft as a night vet in February 2014.

In 2016, Nic transferred to 'day work' and took on the role of Head Vet at our Veterinary Hospital in Whitchurch. He is now Clinical Director of the first opinion general veterinary service at Highcroft Veterinary Hospital.

Charlie graduated from the University of Bristol in 2016 . After completing his internship here, he stayed on as one of the main first opinion vets at our Whitchurch hospital. He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery but his main interest lies in Neurology, so he was keen to undertake the role of co-ordinating and anaesthetising patients for our visiting MRI machine during his internship. He plans to undergo further study in order to become a Neurology specialist. Outside of work, Charlie enjoys exploring new places to eat and drink in Bristol, as well as hobbies such as tennis and skiing.

Jemma joined Highcroft in 2009 after qualifying from Bristol University in 2007. She completed her General Practioners Certificate in Exotic Animal Practice in 2011 and completed her Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Zoological Medicine in 2016 achieving Credits and Distinctions for many of the modules.

Jemma is one of our exotic vets who sees a variety of species from cats and dogs, to all the small furries, primates, fish, reptiles, birds, poultry and insects. She regularly presents lectures to clients, organisations and vets on exotics. She sees both first opinion and referral cases from all over the UK.

She is the veterinary advisor to Bristol City Council and is involved in veterinary inspections of Zoos and Dangerous Wild Animal Licence Applications.  Jemma is also an Official Veterinarian which means she can issue Pet Passports for dogs, cats and ferrets.

Marit has a special interest in Veterinary Ophthalmology and has devoted much of her post-graduate Continuing Professional Development training to this subject. She runs regular clinics for pets with eye complaints.
In her spare time Marit has three children to keep her busy and is renowned for her fantastic cakes.

Veterinary Surgeon

Sonya joined Highcroft in 2015 and is one of our exotic species veterinary surgeons at Highcroft Veterinary Hospital seeing referral, first opinion and second opinion cases. 

Sonya qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Bristol University in 2013 and completed her Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Zoological Medicine in 2018.

In her spare time Sonya runs North Somerset Reptile Rescue, where she cares for sick and unwanted reptiles, aiming to eventually find them new homes. She enjoys treating all types of exotic species, but has a particular interest in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery in these interesting and complicated species.

Grace joined us in August 2014 as an intern veterinary surgeon based at our Whitchurch Hospital and surgery. She qualified at the Royal Veterinary College in London in July 2014 and has an interest in emergency medicine and cardiology. She is originally from Bristol so is happy to come back to her home town.

In her spare time Grace loves to travel and enjoys horse riding and netball.

Vicky joined Highcroft in May 2016 as a Veterinary Surgeon having qualified from Bristol University in 2014. She is based at our Highcroft Veterinary Hospital in Whitchurch and has an interest in soft tissue surgery and behaviour, especially training and socialisation of young animals.

Vicky has a rescue staffi cross called Jazz who is 3 years old. She enjoys long walks with Jazz, photography and baking.

Jade qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012 and joined Highcroft as an intern in 2013 based at our Whitchurch Hospital and surgery. She is now a based primarily at Veterinary Centre and occasionally consults at our hospital in Whitchurch. Jade originally studied human medicine and qualified as a doctor but changed to work with animals. She enjoys the daily benefits of cuddling patients and getting the odd sloppy kiss. Jade has a Jack Russell called Finnegan and does agility at her local dog club.

Alex joined us as a new graduate from Bristol Veterinary School in 2006.

She is particularly interested in Feline Medicine and has passed her General Practice Certificate in Small Animal Medicine.

Natasha joined Highcroft in 1992 and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1999.

As our head nurse, Natasha looks after the pharmacy and the nursing staff, ensuring that our high standard of clinical care is maintained. She is currently studying for a management qualification with the Chartered Institute of Management. Natasha also works closely with the Bristol League for Cats (rescue charity), helping them where she can and liaising with them on our behalf.

Amie joined us in June 2015 having qualified as a veterinary nurse from Bristol University in September 1999. Amie runs very popular nurse clinics at Highcroft Veterinary Hospital and many of our surgeries. 

Outside of work, Amie is married with two children and enjoys walks in the countryside and camping. She has a Level 2 in British Sign Language and also enjoys eating out and a large glass of wine!

Vicki joined Highcroft in 1999 and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2005. She also holds a certificate in Parasitology and a BVNA Certificate in Dentistry. 

As Deputy Head Nurse, and in addition to her nursing duties, Vicki manages the Pharmacy and helps Natasha and Laura manage the nursing staff.

When not working Beth enjoys hockey, running and surfing. She also enjoys music, church and volunteering at youth clubs.

Sam joined Highcroft in 2006 as our Kennel Person having been with us twice before on work experience. 

Sam is now a fully qualified veterinary nurse with a keen interest in surgery and exotic species.  Having spent some time with our Whitchurch veterinary team Sam has transferred to Silva House Veterinary Centre as Deputy Head Nurse.

In his spare time, Sam looks after his growing menagerie of animals and looks after the Boss's pampered pooch Ruby.

Outside of work she enjoys socialising with friends and family, and going to yoga and concerts.

Caroline joined Highcroft at the end of 2009 as a final year veterinary nurse student (BSc). She has since completed her degree and now one of our most highly qualified nurses. She supports our surgical team.

Caroline, together with Gemma Pitt, won a runner up prize in 2011 for running a local nurse event during Veterinary Nursing Week. 

She has a Jack Russell Terrier called Doug.

Outside of Highcroft she likes to travel, go to the gym and horse riding. She has two cats, Izzy a tortoiseshell and Chloe, a black DSH who is full of character and has 'Jekyll and Hyde' tendencies.

Sarah is a keen horse rider and has a horse called Bert and a dog called Paddy. She is currently studying for a degree in Counselling.

Alex is our higher education (HE) student co-ordinator for veterinary nurses.

Vim qualified from Bristol University in 2005 and hasn't left Bristol since! He worked at another large practice in Bristol for almost 5 years before joining Highcroft in January 2011.  Vim gained the RCVS Certificate in Ophthalmology in 2012 and runs first and second opinion eye clinics at our Whitchurch hospital and surgery.

He also has a strong interest in Exotic Species Medicine and runs first opinion clinics for exotic pets at our Whitchurch and Brislington surgeries. He is involved with many animal welfare charities in his native Sri Lanka and is also keen to contribute to the education of future generations of vets, both in the UK and in Sri Lanka. He is keen on educating and informing the public on animal health issues through the media.

Laura joined Highcroft as a referrals nurse in November 2016. She qualified in October 2014 passing her Level 3 diploma in veterinary nursing at MYF Aldershot.

Laura is based at our main Hospital and surgery in Whitchurch. She has an interest in orthopaedics, emergency and critical care and is currently doing a certificate in emergency and critical care.

Outside of HIghcroft Laura enjoys going to the gym, shopping and eating out.

Nimisha joined Highcroft in February 2016 as a registered veterinary nurse based at our HIghcroft Veterinary Hospital and surgery in Whitchurch.  She has a special interest in Immunology and Genetics (Bio informatics) and has a BSc in Veterinary Nursing and Bioveterinary Science. 

Nimisha has two cats, a tortoiseshell called Astra and black domestic short hair called Luna. She enjoys swimming, baking, tv and films.

Laurie joined Highcroft in 2004 as a kennel assistant and qualified as a veterinary nurse nurse in 2008. She is based at our Whitchurch hospital and surgery and also works alongside Jim Carter and Vim Kumaratunga at our ophthalmology clinic at Stockwood.  Laurie is a clinical coach mentoring our student nurses and has a keen interest in medicine.

Laurie regularly runs our First Aid Evenings client evening with Caroline Webber.

Jodie has a gorgeous dachshund called Hank and a budgie called Willy. Outside of work she enjoys camping, canoeing, sport, going to the gym and spending time with her husband.

Jayne joined Highcroft in 2001 and is now our Senior Receptionist, supporting the team and looking after the waiting area at our Whitchurch hospital and surgery.

Jayne is also a Hill's Pet Nutrition Counsellor offering advice to our clients on the appropriate diet for their pet's age and lifestyle. Jayne is actively involved in dog agility training and runs classes in the local area

Kate joined us as a receptionist in 2011 and shares her time between our Whitchurch hospital and surgery and Ashton surgery looking after clients and pets. She has a Cairn Terrier called Roxy.

Margaret has been with the practice since June 1998.

As well as looking after our clients and their pets on reception, Margaret ensures that the practice is well stocked with pet foods, consumables and accessories. She is also a fully trained Bereavement Counsellor offering support and comfort to clients who have lost their pets, and holds advanced certificates in Small Animal Nutrition from Hill's Pet Nutrition.

Carolyn originally joined Highcroft in November 2013 as a part time receptionist based at our Keynsham and Whitchurch surgeries. She then transferred to our busy Veterinary Referrals Centre before returning to the main reception at  our Highcroft Hospital in Whitchurch and also covering our Stockwood surgery.  She helps with booking appointments, answering clients queries and looking after pet owners in reception

Outside of work Carolyn enjoys horse riding and has a horse and two dogs, a Jack Russell and a Chihuahua.

Sam joined Highcroft in September 2016 as a telephonist/receptionist and is based at our Whitchurch Hospital and Surgery. She now works as a Kennel Assistant looking after the inpatients at our Whitchurch hospital ans surgery.

Sam has a  working cocker spaniel called Belle and enjoys dog walking, agility and competing.

Joanna joined Highcroft in March 2015 as a telephonist and is based at our Highcroft Hospital in Whitchurch.  She answers the phone, deals with clients queries and makes appointments.

Jo is a Second Year mature vet student Bristol University, have two female house rabbits called Margot and Vera, and a warmblood mare called Indy. She enjoys outdoor activities when she is not studying.

Martha joined Highcroft in December 2014 as a laboratory technician to run our state-of-the-art blood sampling laboratory at our hospital in Whitchurch. With a special interest in cytology, the structure and function of cells and microbiology, looking at micro- organisms, she made the lab run like clock-work.

Martha has since been promoted to Hospital Manager of Highcroft Veterinary Hospital and Referral Centre, assisting our Hospital Director in the smooth running of the practice.

Outside of work, she loves horse riding and has two dogs - Olive, a Italian Spinone and Trevor, a French Pointer.

Outside of work Kate has a Lhasa Apso called Smithy and a cat called Lulu. Kate also enjoys skittles, socialising and eating out.

Gary joined Highcroft in September 2015 as an ambulance driver operating from our busy Whitchurch Hospital and Surgery. As a driver Gary collects and delivers pets for our clients and transports them comfortably and safely between surgeries. He also transports equipment and supplies between surgeries and, on request, delivers large volumes of pet food to our clients' homes.

Gary has a Schnauzer aged 5 and enjoys sport and gardening in his spare time.
