Charlie joined Highcroft in August 2016 as an intern veterinary surgeon at our Highcroft Hospital in Whitchurch having qualified from University of Bristol in July 2016. He has a special interest in internal medicine and surgery, particularly emergency and critical care.

Outside interests include skiing, tennis, cinema and travelling. Charlie has a dog called Bruno who is a Cocker/Bichon Frise cross and two rescued moggies, Tiggy and Pebbles.

Melissa qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London, in July 2016, and has joined Highcroft as an Intern Veterinary Surgeon at our Hospital in Whitchurch. Melissa has a special interest in emergency and critical care.

Melissa has two Cocker Spaniels and two Havana cats. She enjoys dog training (obedience and agility) walking and riding.

Jenny is a Vet Manager at Highcroft Veterinary Hospital. She joined Highcroft in April 2014 having qualified as a vet from Bristol University in 2006.

Jenny completed her GP Certificate in Small Animal Medicine in 2012 and her GP Certificate in Veterinary Forensics and Law in 2015. She has authored a chapter in a textbook on Veterinary Forensics, published in April 2016.

Jenny is the proud owner of Roxy, a gorgeous black labrador, who you will often find sat behind the reception desk at our Ashton surgery. 

In her spare time, Jenny loves outdoor pursuits and has been white water kayaking all over the world (Nepal, New Zealand, Canada and all across Europe). She is a member, and sits on the committee of, the Avon Canoe Polo Club in Bristol, and regularly competes in both ladies and open competitions. Jenny also enjoys skiing, climbing, cycling and mountaineering.

Jemma joined Highcroft in 2009 after qualifying from Bristol University in 2007. She completed her General Practioners Certificate in Exotic Animal Practice in 2011 and completed her Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Zoological Medicine in 2016 achieving Credits and Distinctions for many of the modules.

Jemma is one of our exotic vets who sees a variety of species from cats and dogs, to all the small furries, primates, fish, reptiles, birds, poultry and insects. She regularly presents lectures to clients, organisations and vets on exotics. She sees both first opinion and referral cases from all over the UK.

She is the veterinary advisor to Bristol City Council and is involved in veterinary inspections of Zoos and Dangerous Wild Animal Licence Applications.  Jemma is also an Official Veterinarian which means she can issue Pet Passports for dogs, cats and ferrets.

Marit has a special interest in Veterinary Ophthalmology and has devoted much of her post-graduate Continuing Professional Development training to this subject. She runs regular clinics for pets with eye complaints.

Sarah has a special interest in dermatology and is currently studying towards a CertAVP in dermatology. 

When not at Highcroft Sarah enjoys horse riding and baking.

Sonya qualified from Bristol University in July 2013 and joined our exotic team in February 2015 and is currently working towards a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice, (Cert AVP). She has a special interest in reptiles and runs North Somerset Reptile Rescue. She has a number of reptiles (as you might expect), a cat, dog and three horses! When not at Highcroft she enjoys training and riding her horses and walking and training her dog, a collie cross.

Caroline has two dogs, Tegan a 4 year old Sussex Spaniel and Cosmo a 2 year old mixed breed rescue from Cyprus. She enjoys running, knitting, baking playing piano and guitar.

As our head nurse, Natasha looks after the pharmacy and the nursing staff, ensuring that our high standard of clinical care is maintained. Natasha also works closely with the Bristol League for Cats (rescue charity), helping them where she can and liaising with them on our behalf.

In his spare time, Sam looks after his growing menagerie of animals and looks after the Boss's pampered pooch Ruby.

Vim qualified from Bristol University in 2005 and hasn't left Bristol since! He worked at another large practice in Bristol for almost 5 years before joining Highcroft in January 2011.  Vim gained the RCVS Certificate in Ophthalmology in 2012 and runs first and second opinion eye clinics at our Whitchurch hospital and surgery.

He also has a strong interest in Exotic Species Medicine and runs first opinion clinics for exotic pets at our Whitchurch and Brislington surgeries. He is involved with many animal welfare charities in his native Sri Lanka and is also keen to contribute to the education of future generations of vets, both in the UK and in Sri Lanka. He is keen on educating and informing the public on animal health issues through the media.

Vicky originally joined Highcroft in 2008 as a Kennel Person.

She cared for our inpatients, feeding, walking and comforting them where required. She assisted our veterinary nurses to make sure that everything is clean. 

She then started training to be a veterinary nurse, working with the team at the Whitchurch hospital and successfully qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in August 2015.

Nimisha has two cats, a tortoiseshell called Astra and black domestic short hair called Luna. She enjoys swimming, baking, tv and films.

She is based at our Whitchurch hospital and surgery and also works alongside Jim Carter and Vim Kumaratunga at our ophthalmology clinic at Stockwood.  Laurie is a clinical coach mentoring our student nurses and has a keen interest in medicine.

Laurie regularly runs our First Aid Evenings client evening with Caroline Webber.

Rebecca joined Highcroft in May 2016 having qualified from Bristol University in July 2015   She is a night nurse at our Highcroft Veterinary Hospital in Whitchurch caring for our in-patient pets and supporting our night vets. Rebecca answers our emergency telephone offering first aid and emergency guidance to clients and directing them to the hospital where required.  Rebecca has a honours degree  in Veterinary Nursing and Bio veterinary Science and has a special interest in exotics, wildlife, emergency, critical care and inpatient care.

Outside of work Rebecca enjoys rock climbing and travelling.  She has a lion head rabbit called Kevin and a Syrian hamster called Barnaby.

Maxine joined Highcroft in May 2016 as a Kennel Assistant based at our Eastville Veterinary Centre.  She is responsible for caring, feeding, walking pets as and where required.  She also assists our vets and nurses and makes sure that everything is clean, tidy and organised.

Maxine has two chinchillas, two rabbits and one cat.

Carly joined Highcroft in April 2014 as a Kennel Assistant.  She works with Jordan caring for our inpatients, feeding, walking and comforting them where required. She also assists our veterinary nurses and makes sure that everything is ship shape and clean.

Carly has a Border Collie called Holly and a budgie called BooBoo.

Senior Receptionist

Jayne joined Highcroft in 2001 and is now our Senior Receptionist, supporting the team and looking after the waiting area at our Whitchurch hospital and surgery.

Jayne is also a Hill's Pet Nutrition Counsellor offering advice to our clients on the appropriate diet for their pet's age and lifestyle. Jayne is actively involved in dog agility training and runs classes in the local area

Kate joined us as a receptionist in 2011 and shares her time between our Whitchurch hospital and surgery and Ashton surgery looking after clients and pets. She has a Cairn Terrier called Roxy.

Kitty joined Highcroft in February 2016 as a telephonist and receptionist at our busy Highcroft Hospital and surgery in Whitchurch.

She has a dog called Bertie, a Border Terrier, aged 7.

Outside of work Kitty enjoys kayaking, running and reading.

Margaret Brown

Margaret has been with the practice since June 1998.

As well as looking after our clients and their pets on reception, Margaret ensures that the practice is well stocked with pet foods, consumables and accessories. She is also a fully trained Bereavement Counsellor offering support and comfort to clients who have lost their pets, and holds advanced certificates in Small Animal Nutrition from Hill's Pet Nutrition.

Carolyn originally joined Highcroft in November 2013 as a part time receptionist based at our Keynsham and Whitchurch surgeries. She then transferred to our busy Veterinary Referrals Centre before returning to the main reception at  our Highcroft Hospital in Whitchurch and also covering our Stockwood surgery.  She helps with booking appointments, answering clients queries and looking after pet owners in reception

Outside of work Carolyn enjoys horse riding and has a horse and two dogs, a Jack Russell and a Chihuahua.

Sam has a  working cocker spaniel called Belle who is 5 years old and enjoys dog walking, agility and competing.

At home Zoe has two cats Scampy and Scrumpy and a bearded dragon called Miku. In her spare time she enjoys visiting secondhand shops and car boot sales.

Lesley looks after clients and their pets in reception and generally helps to make sure that the surgery is running smoothly. She also works part time at our Longwell Green branch in credit control.

Joanna joined Highcroft in March 2015 as a telephonist and is based at our Highcroft Hospital in Whitchurch.  She answers the phone, deals with clients queries and makes appointments.

Jo is a Second Year mature vet student Bristol University, have two female house rabbits called Margot and Vera, and a warmblood mare called Indy. She enjoys outdoor activities when she is not studying.

Hospital Manager

Martha joined Highcroft in December 2014 as a laboratory technician to run our state-of-the-art blood sampling laboratory at our hospital in Whitchurch. With a special interest in cytology, the structure and function of cells and microbiology, looking at micro- organisms, she made the lab run like clock-work.

Martha has since been promoted to Hospital Manager of Highcroft Veterinary Hospital and Referral Centre, assisting our Hospital Director in the smooth running of the practice.

Outside of work, she loves horse riding and has two dogs - Olive, a Italian Spinone and Trevor, a French Pointer.

Kate joined Highcroft in June 2015 as a part time Administrator in our Whitchurch Hospital and surgery. Kate's helps out on Healthy Pet Club admin and processes pet insurance claims.

Outside of work Kate has a Lhasa Apso called Smithy and a cat called Lulu. Kate also enjoys skittles, socialising and eating out.

Laura joined Highcroft in October 2016 to help out at our busy Whitchurch Veterinary Hospital and surgery. Laura assists Amy Cole in ordering, stock control and pharmacy legislation.

Holly joined the practice in 2009 and works in our Marketing Department. She is actively involved in all public relations, copywriting, advertising, promotions and communications with clients.

Holly is responsible for the marketing of Highcroft Veterinary Referrals, which also includes arranging continuing professional development (CPD) programmes for other vets. She has two professional diplomas, in Marketing Communications and Digital Marketing (Media and Branding), awarded by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). She also has a CertHE in Linguistics and Communication.

As a big fan of 'mini dogs', Holly owns Alfie the naughty chihuahua and Olive the boisterous jug (Jack Russell/Pug). Unfortunately, most of the vets here are scared of Alfie!

She has a Westie called Daisy who is a grand old lady at 13.

Ambulance Co-ordinator

Gary joined Highcroft in September 2015 as an ambulance driver operating from our busy Whitchurch Hospital and Surgery. As a driver Gary collects and delivers pets for our clients and transports them comfortably and safely between surgeries. He also transports equipment and supplies between surgeries and, on request, delivers large volumes of pet food to our clients' homes.

Gary has a Schnauzer aged 5 and enjoys sport and gardening in his spare time.

Caretaker/Ambulance Driver

Stephen joined Highcroft in December 2015 as an additional ambulance driver and caretaker. Stephen collects and delivers pets and transports equipment and supplies between all our branch surgeries.

Outside of work Steve is interested in music, gardening and playing golf.
