Jemma Hildrew
Veterinary Surgeon

Jemma joined Highcroft in 2009 after qualifying from Bristol University in 2007. She completed her General Practioners Certificate in Exotic Animal Practice in 2011 and completed her Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Zoological Medicine in 2016 achieving Credits and Distinctions for many of the modules.

Jemma is one of our exotic vets who sees a variety of species from cats and dogs, to all the small furries, primates, fish, reptiles, birds, poultry and insects. She regularly presents lectures to clients, organisations and vets on exotics. She sees both first opinion and referral cases from all over the UK.

She is the veterinary advisor to Bristol City Council and is involved in veterinary inspections of Zoos and Dangerous Wild Animal Licence Applications.  Jemma is also an Official Veterinarian which means she can issue Pet Passports for dogs, cats and ferrets.


Lorraine Smith
BVetMed PGDip(ClinOnc) MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon

Lorraine qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1998 and joined Highcroft in 2004.

In 2012, Lorraine gained the Diploma in Clinical Oncology, her area of special interest. She runs clinics for oncology (cancer) at the Whitchurch hospital and surgery.


Teresa Thatcher
Senior Receptionist and Training Co-ordinator

Teresa joined Highcroft in 2006 as a receptionist at Stockwood moving to our Keynsham branch in 2007 before becoming the branches senior receptionist in 2014.  In 2015 she also became senior receptionist for our Stockwood surgery and took on the role of trainer. Teresa is responsible for receptionist and product training.  

She has a cat called Twinkle and a Cairn Terrier called Percy.


Carolyn Hancorn

Carolyn joined Highcroft in January 2016 and works as a Receptionist at our Stockwood surgery.  She helps with booking appointments, answering clients queries and looking after pet owners in reception.

Outside of Highcroft she enjoys family genealogy research and reading historical fiction. She has a dog called Poppy a labrador/retriever cross who is 13 years old.


Laura Smith

Laura joined Highcroft in September 2016 as a receptionist in our Stockwood surgery. She helps with booking appointments, answering clients queries and looking after pet owners in reception.

Laura has two cats and two dogs, brother and sister. She is interested in animals, photography, seeing friends and going to the gym.


Julie Brodie
Practice Manager - Longwell Green area branches

Julie joined us in February 2014 and gained hands on experience in many of our branch surgeries in the lead up to becoming our head receptionist at Shirehampton Village Vets. In Jan 2015, Julie took on the role of Head of Reception, responsible for all the receptionists across the group.

Julie has now been promoted to Practice Manager for our branches in Longwell Green, Keynsham, Stockwood and Brislington.

Julie has a Westie who is 'very spoilt'. In her spare time Julie enjoys dining out, cinema and reading.
